Main Features

IS5403-10 is a Patmax-enabled model in the IS5403 line of the In-Sight 5000 series from Cognex. It includes useful features such as a high 1600 x 1200 pixels resolution as well as supporting the essential, extended, and ID toolsets from Cognex. Its speed rating of 12 times puts it at around the medium end of the In-Sight 5000 series. It carries other features shared among other In-Sight 5000 systems such as a 256 grey level bit depth at 8 bits per pixel, a C-mount lens type, and a die-cast aluminum housing.

Patmax

Patmax is a pattern-matching tool from Cognex that allows for efficient object location. It is unique from other pattern-matching technologies in its ability to rapidly locate objects based on shape with high levels of accuracy, even if the objects are scaled, stretched, or rotated. Patmax does not rely on a pixel grid or specific gray levels, which is what allows it to be so effective when dealing with transformed objects or poor lighting conditions.

Tradeoffs

A tradeoff you may encounter when dealing with the IS5403-10 is that the higher resolution comes at the cost of having a lower frame rate. The frame rate may be increased somewhat if you delete some image sensor rows in the In-Sight Explorer software. The IS5403-10 is most suited for environments where high levels of detail are required and frame rate is not a main limiting factor.

Firmware

As with many other In-Sight 5000 vision systems, the IS5403-10 must be run on In-Sight firmware versions from 4.4.3 up to, but not including, 5.1.0.
