IS5400-11 is a vision system developed by Cognex. A member of the Insight 5000 series, this module can easily monitor an array of workplace environments. Complete with a PatMax system, this device can effortlessly monitor a number of harsh conditions. PatMax capabilities allow the module to locate machine parts using an integrated geometric pattern technology. This provides maximum vision yield without having to calibrate or reset the field. Captured images are in grayscale, with the camera capable of presenting 256 different shades of gray. The 64 MB of photo memory processes images captured by the module. Program storage is also included with the device in the 32 MB of nonvolatile flash memory.
Images produced by IS5400-11 are clear using the 640 x 480 pixel resolution. High speed functions are available with the camera’s ability to capture 60 frames per second in addition to the 12 times speed rating. This device features a number of tool and ID capabilities built into the module. Processes like 1 and 2 dimensional barcode verification, image filtering, and nonlinear calibration are only a few of the highlighted features. Interfacing with external devices is simple using the serial RS232C port as well as an Ethernet connection and a 10/100 BaseT TCP/IP connection.
All outlined storage and installation parameters should be followed to maintain the integrity of the device. Since delicate circuitries are built into IS5400-11, a climate controlled environment is necessary. Operating temperatures can safely range from 0℃ to 45℃, or 32℉ to 113℉. Storage temperatures should also be monitored as the device can be damaged even when not in use. Acceptable storage temperatures range from -30℃, or -22℉ to 80℃, or 176℉.
