Product Description

The D4-RAM-1 is an Automation Direct/DirectLogic 405 CMOS battery RAM Cartridge.  This cartridge may have been sold under the company names of Koyo Electronics or FACTS Engineering component. 

The D4-RAM-1 offers maximum program storage of 7.5K.  This memory cartridge is required with several versions of the DL405 system, including the DL440 and DL450 CPU.   The cartridge is designed to install within the slot directly to the right of the battery and must be firmly seated to work properly. 

The D4-RAM-1 also includes the secondary COMM port address and the I/O configuration for the DL system.  This module is used for program storage and requires a battery for memory retention.  This battery is located within the cartridge itself.  Memory can be modified or changed via a handheld programmer or using PC software.  This battery is replaceable and typically has a lifespan of three years. 

Memory cartridges should only be inserted or removed when the power to the unit has been disconnected.  If the memory cartridge is removed with power on, program and password corruption may result. 

The DL 405 family is designed to be versatile PLCs that can be used for a wide variety of medium-control applications.   These units typically have four to eight slots in their base systems and can be used with a handheld programmer.  For additional information about the whole system or about the D4-RAM-1 memory cartridge, please refer to Automation Direct manuals and user guides.
