Product Description

D4-64TD1 is a Direct Current (DC) Discrete Output module manufactured by Automation Direct. A member of the DirectLogic 405 series, this 64-channel device is designed to interface with DL405 programmable logic controllers. All available outputs, of which there are 64, are labeled as current sinking outputs. These outputs all terminate into one of the eight non-isolated commons found in the module.

Monitoring voltage and current levels can prevent D4-64TD1 from overloading or damage. While in use, an operating voltage between 4.75 and 26.4 VDC is required, with a peak voltage of 36 VDC. The output type produced on the D4-64TD1 module is labeled as an NPN open collector. The 64 channels on the module can sustain a maximum resistive current of 0.1 A per point, while each of the eight commons can withstand 1 A per common; with all of the channels and commons available on this unit, the module can sustain up to 7 A of resistive current.

Like most modules, the D4-64TD1 unit is temperature sensitive and should be maintained in a climate-controlled environment. While operating, temperatures can safely fall as low as 0°C, or 32°F, and as high as 60°C, or 140°F. Storage temperatures offer more flexibility, with temperatures capable of safely ranging from -20°C to 70°C or -4°F to 158°F. One thing that should be noted prior to the installation of the D4-64TD1 device with a CPU base is that the module cannot be installed along with specialty slots.

The D4-64TD1 must be mounted to a base; are there any specifications on the type?

When the D4-64TD1 module is mounted, it will go on a CPU base. There are no specifications on what type of CPU base is required, so in theory, the D4-64TD1 module can go on any of the available CPU bases in the DL405 family. The CPU bases available within the family are D4-430, D4-440, and D4-450. The only inhibition when it comes to using the D4-64TD1 model with any of the aforementioned CPU bases is that when mounted/inserted into the base if there are any remaining slots, such as slots six, seven, or eight, speciality modules cannot be used with this device. 

Are there any power requirements in relation to this module?

The power requirements are supplied to the D4-64TD1 module externally from a 5 VDC current and a 24V Auxiliary Power device. Both of the power supplies are supplied in milliamperes. The power supplied to this module from the 5 VDC current is 800 milliamperes. There is no power supplied to the D4-64TD1 module through the 24 V Auxiliary Power device.
