F3-AB128-R is a triple port ASCII BASIC module developed by Automation Direct, Facts Engineering, and Koyo. The module belongs to the DirectLogic 305 series of programmable logic controllers. In addition to the PLC, this device also interfaces with an array of intelligent devices. Serial printers, board level controllers, and most devices with a RS232C/422/485 port are supported by the module. A number of complex math functions can be processed by the module, increasing device functionality.
Programmed commands are easily accessible and executed with the module’s integrated 16 MHz processor. F3-AB128-R offers simple programming through the included FACTS extended BASIC and ABM commander for Windows software. This program allows the user to program the module to perform tasks independently of the controller’s CPU. 128K bytes of RAM offers expanded program storage and execution space. Three ports are featured on F3-AB128-R. Port 1 offers an RS232C connection with a maximum baud rate of 57.6K baud. Port 3 utilizes the RTS/CTS pins found in Port 1, creating a third connection. Should these pins be used in Port 1, then Port 3 can not function. The other connection, Port 2, is an asynchronous leased line and data radio modem. A built in 300/600/1200 baud FSK port replaces the normal RS422/485 hookup. Port 2’s modem is compatible with Bell 103/113/108/202, CCITT V.221 and V.23 connections. This allows for fast responses using the direct connection to both leased line networks and radio.
All installation and storage parameters should be followed to prolong the longevity of the device. Ambient temperatures of the operating facility should be monitored to prevent damage. During operation, temperatures can safely range as low as 32℉, or 0℃, and as high as 140℉, or 60℃. Refer to the corresponding user manual and datasheets for a complete installation and wiring guide.
