The H2-EBC Ethernet Base Controller supports the 10BaseT (twisted pair, copper wire) Ethernet standard. The H2-EBC Ethernet Base Controller connects to the network using a standard RJ45 modular connector. The RJ12 RS232C serial port provides serial communication to an operator-interface device or other serial device.
The front of the H2-EBC Ethernet Base Controller provides status indicators.
LINKGD When green, the module is properly connected to the network.
ACT Red or flashing red indicates active network data.
ERROR When red, or flashing red, a fatal error has occurred.
Use the H2-EBC Ethernet Base Controller as an interface between a network master controller and the I/O modules in a DL205 series or DL405 series PLCs slave system. A DL205 series, DL405 series, or WinPLC using the Ethernet Remote Master module (ERM) can be used as a network master controller. Also, a device using control software that includes embedded Ethernet I/O drivers or through a compatible OPC server can be a network master controller.
Install the H2-EBC Ethernet Base Controller in the CPU slot on the base module and it communicates across the backplane to the input and output modules.
You can use a device with NetEdit3 software to configure the H2-EBC module over the network. The NetEdit3 software utility can be used to set network identifiers (Module ID or IP Address), perform diagnostic and troubleshooting tasks, and upgrade the firmware in the H2-EBC module.
You can also assign a module ID using the DIP switches on the module. Use the DIP switches if you want the ability to install or change modules without using a laptop, desktop, or other device to set the Module ID.
