Product Description

The Automation Direct Facts Engineering Koyo D2-RMSM is a serial remote input/output master module. It is one of the modules created to interface with the DirectLogic 205 series of programmable logic controllers. When used in conjunction with D2-RSSS, the slave module, it allows local I/O modules to operate remotely from the CPU, while still under its control. D2-RMSM is the master module that operates within the PLC, acting as an intermediary between it and the peripheral devices.

Communication between the master and slave modules is available via the twisted-pair cable. Baud rates are dependent upon configuration, and can range as low as 19.2 kBaud and as high as 614.4 kBaud. Two remote I/O communication protocols are supported by D2-RMSM, including remote master protocol (RM-NET) and Slice master protocol (SM-NET). A number of diagnostic and indicator LEDs can be found on the front of the module. These indicators include RUN to show proper operation, DIAG when hardware failure occurs, I/O when setup programming is wrong, and LINK when there is a communication error. A DIP switch found on the rear of the module allows the user to set baud rates and other parameters. Rotary switches are also found on the module, which configure it as a master or slave module. To ensure proper configuration, the master rotary should always be set at 0. Four points labeled T, 1, 2, and 3 act as ground connections and the communication connection hook up points.

Following all installation and safety guidelines will help to ensure the longevity of D2-RMSM. When operating, ambient temperatures of the operating facility should range from 32℉ to 140℉, or 0℃ to 60℃. Storage temperature can vary more, with the lowest temperatures reaching -4℉, or -20℃, and the highest reaching 158℉, or 70℃.
