About the F0-04THM
The Automation Direct Facts Engineering F0-04THM is a four channel thermocouple input module compatible with DirectLogic 05 and DirectLogic 06 programmable logic controllers. This module converts voltage signal levels into CPU digestible 16-bit digital resolution values. Extra conversions by the user are unnecessary as the module displays temperature values as either ℉ or ℃. F0-04THM can be formatted to input a range of voltages. Configurable options include 0-39.0625mVDC, +/-39.0625mVDC, +/-78.125mVDC, 0-156.25mV, +/-156.25mVDC and 0-1.25VDC.
Temperature readings by the module are accurate and precise. These readings are based on data provided by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). A number of integrated signal processing features retain the integrity of the displayed data. Highlights of the processing system include:
- data filtering
- thermocouple linearization
- automatic cold junction compensation (CJC)
A wide array of input ranges allow F0-04THM to function in any environment. Module supported input ranges include Types J, E, K, R, S, T, B, N, and C. Temperature readings are dependent upon the selected input range type. Some ranges can read temperatures as high as 4208℉, or 2320℃, while others can read as low as -382℉, or -230℃.
As the module interacts with the PLC’s internal CPU, certain software requirements must be met. When operating in a DL05 controller, DirectSOFT32 version 3.0c or later and firmware version 4.60 or later must be installed. While a DL06 PLC requires DirectSOFT32 version 4.0, build 16 or later and Firmware version 1.40 or later.
As F0-04THM contains delicate hardware, following proper storage and installation parameters is necessary for device preservation. When in storage, temperatures can range from -4℉ to 158℉, or -20℃ to 70℃. Operating temperatures are limited, with acceptable ambient temperatures ranging from 32℉ to 140℉, or 0℃ to 60℃. The F0-04THM can also be used with the DL05 series, which makes this card extremely flexible. There are multiple types of thermocouple signals that the F0-04THM can be used with.
