Model 8237-1594 comes out of the Woodward Protech-GII series. It is an over-speed detection device that can be equipped with any size turbine. It works with gas, hydro, and steam turbines to safely and effectively shut them down in the event of over acceleration. Model 8237-1594 also has MPU detection and a sulfur-resistant coating. It can be used in class 3C2 environments and has long-term resistance to S02 and H2S gases. A triple module design allows for online repairs if one module is malfunctioning. The A, B, or C modules can be replaced while the rest of the system is still online and operating. This product can also perform routine speed tests, and log the results of those tests. This is done through an internal generator and ensures everything is running smoothly.

Speed readouts for this model are from 4 to 20 mA, and it uses 2 out of 3 voted architecture and three independent relays. It’s a bulkhead mount using high and low voltage power inputs. It is also equipped with Modbus communication. Model 8237-1594 has been discontinued by Woodward, but it can still be found through AX Control. AX Control can buy, sell, and repair these over-speed detection devices.
