About the 5463-887
The 5463-887 is an Input Module from the NetCon 5000 series. This module was manufactured by Woodward in their United States facility. The 5463-887 plays an important role in the PLC system. As an input module, the 5463-887 translates electrical signals and turns them into digital logic signals that the PLC CPU can use. The 5463-887 has three key functions. These are:
- Signal Conditioning
- Electrical Isolation
- Status Indication
These three functions are critical in ensuring that the 5463-887 is delivering clear signals to the PLC. Two terminal strips exist on the back end of the 5463-887 as pictured for secure connection purposes. It appears that its chassis-protected design has been developed with some type of rack-based mounting in mind. This would be backed up by the presence of two retention clips on one end of the module.
