Model 8290-184 is a speed control device from Woodward. This product is in the Electrically Powered Governor series and is compatible with specific actuators from the same manufacturer. Model 8290-184 can be used with actuators 1712, 1724, 512, and 524. It is designed to work with prime movers powered by gasoline or gas. This model is made to work as part of a full EPG system. These systems include a speed control device, an actuator, and magnetic pickup.

This speed control device has a 24-volt battery voltage, and VDC ranges from 20 VDC to 32 VDC. It uses a 5A battery charger. The device should be installed with 12 AWG and 14 AWG wiring (depending on length). The ambient temperature range for product 8290-184 is -40 to 167 degrees Fahrenheit. It operates with a 10 A slow blow fuse and is compliant with EU Directives. It consumes up to 95 watts of power, and can be mounted on the engine it will work with.
