Model 8290-076 comes from the Electrically Powered Governor series at Woodward. The manufacturer has discontinued these products, but they are still available through sources like AX Control. Model 8290-076 is a single-phase droop controller. It is one of three parts that can be used to create an EPG system for prime movers. In addition to a speed control device, an actuator and magnetic pickup are needed. This model works with gasoline and gas engines and consumes a maximum of 60 watts of power.

The system battery voltage for this device is 12 volts. A 7A battery charger is needed for this product. When operating this speed control device, the temperature should be kept between -40 and 167 degrees Fahrenheit. It can be mounted to the engine it will work with, but should be protected, well-ventilated, and kept from products of high heat. The required speed range of this product is 6000 to 12000 Hz. 12AWG and 14AWG wire can be used when installing this device. The maximum length for 12AWG wire is 60 feet, while the 14AWG maximum is 20 feet.
