A single-phase droop control from the Woodward Electrically Powered Governor series is model 8290-070. It is only compatible with gas and gasoline-powered engines. If mounting this device to the prime mover, it should be installed in a protected space. Keep it away from moving devices, high sources of heat, and weather exposure. The speed control device should also have plenty of ventilation, allowing for natural cool-down methods. Combing model 8290-070 to an actuator and magnetic pickup will create an entire EPG system. The device can be used on actuator models 8256-016 and 8256-021.

Operating specifications for model 8290-070 include;

• Temperature range of -40 to 167 degrees Fahrenheit.
• Speed range of 750 to 1500 Hz.
• 24-volt system battery voltage.
• A steady-state-current consumption maximum of 3 amps.
• Operable with clockwise and counterclockwise actuator movement.
• Optional use of parallel generator.

Woodward has discontinued model 8290-070 and other products in this series, but it is still available through sources such as AX Control. This speed control device can be sold, bought, and even repaired through AX Control. All repairs are given a three-year warranty.
