Product Description

Model 8290-069 comes from the Woodward series Electrically Powered Governor and is a single-phase droop controller device compatible with prime movers. This model can be used on gas and diesel-powered engines. This device can be mounted on the prime mover near the battery and actuator. It should be installed in a well-ventilated, protected from the weather and moving devices. It should only be cooled off with natural methods.

Adding this product to a magnetic pickup and actuator will create a complete EPG system that can work on prime movers without a mechanical drive or hydraulic supply.

The 8290-069 model can have an additional optional external capacitor or ramp generator. These two options will allow the user to adjust the time it will take the prime mover to go from an idle to rated speed and vice versa. The ramp generator is most often used to provide a linear ramp with times that are adjustable up to around twenty-five seconds, so long as the model and ramp generator is being used in a typical application. 

The speed range of this model is 750 to 1500 Hz. It is only compatible with actuator models 8256-016 and 8256-021. It operates with a system voltage of 24 volts. Product 8290-069 is EU Directive Compliant and can be used with two types of wires. 12 AWG and 14 AWG wires are compatible with this device. This model has been discontinued through Woodward but can still be found through AX Control and other sources.
