Product 8290-046 is a speed control device as part of a full EPG system. This device is part of Woodward’s Electrically Powered Governor series and is compliant with EU Directives. They are designed to be corrosive resistant, long-lasting, and capable of withstanding high heat. Model 8290-046 is a single-phase droop control device that can operate on diesel or gas-powered turbine prime movers. It is made for use with low-mass and low-friction prime movers and can be used without a mechanical drive or hydraulic oil supply. They are also compatible with load-sharing accessories.

Specifications for model 8290-046 include;

• Speed range of 3000 to 6000 Hz.
• Powered by a 12-volt battery.
• Maximum power consumption of 60 watts.
• VDC range of 10 VDC to 16 VDC.
• Optional compatibility with 2500 Ramp Generator.

When wiring the magnetic pickup to the device, 14 AWG or 12 AWG wire can be used. Wiring should be kept as short as possible from the battery to the rest of the system. Product 8290-046 has been discontinued by Woodward, but can be purchased through AX Control. AX Control is also able to buy and repair these speed-control devices. All repairs will come with a warranty good for three years.
