Part of Woodward’s Electrically Powered Governor series is actuator model 8256-078. The lightweight product weighs less than two pounds and is compatible with multiple types of engines. The actuator works on prime movers, providing low-mass and low-friction. It can be mounted near the engine panelings and is built of corrosive-resistant material to make it long-lasting. This product is also made to withstand high temperatures, with an ambient temperature range of -40 to 200 degrees Fahrenheit. The volt supply on model 8256-078 is 12, with a minimum of 10 Vdc and a maximum of 16 Vdc. The maximum power consumption is 60 watts.

This Woodward actuator is made to be responsive, effective, and reliable, and operates at maximum capacity. It is equipped with internal springs, as well as clockwise and counterclockwise rotation. Model 8256-078 is just one aspect of a full EPG system. A complete system combines the actuator with magnetic pickup and electronic speed control. These tools are usually sold separately. Woodward has discontinued this actuator product model, but it is still available through AX Control.
