The 8256-016 is an actuator in the Electrically Powered Governor (EPG) series from Woodward. This unit is meant to be used in conjunction with a magnetic pickup unit and speed control unit to form a full EPG. The 8256-016 is a 24V model actuator in this series. The full EPG is designed to control the speed of gas, gasoline, and diesel engines. This model may be paired with load sharing devices to use with paralleled applications.

Actuator Features/Compatibility

The 8256-016 is capable of single phase isochronous or droop control. For use with diesel engines with or without start fuel limits as well as gasoline or gas engines with start fuel limits, the 8256-016 should be paired with a magnetic pickup in the 3000 to 6000Hz range. For use with other gasoline or gas engines, the unit should be paired with a 6000 to 12,000Hz magnetic pickup.

The compatible control to the 8256-016 has a maximum power consumption of 95W and requires the battery charger to have 5A or higher while the unit is energized.
