Genset control unit model 8440-2057 is capable of single or multi-unit operation. In applications where multiple units are required, this genset controller can connect up to 32 units. This includes mains parallel operations and a range of load management applications. Manufactured by Woodward, the 8440-2057 is part of the easYgen-3000 series.

Control units in this series are available in a variety of models. The 8440-2057 unit is a 3100 model with the Package 2 (P2) option. The combination of features specific to this easYgen-3000 model are:

• 1A CT inputs
• Metal housing (no display, intended for cabinet back mounting)
• External analog I/Os (via CANopen)
• Engine cylinder temperature protection
• PID controllers (3, freely configurable)

Because easYgen 3100 models such as this one do not have a built-in HMI, the control is managed via PC using ToolKit software. It has the same multi-lingual capabilities and multi-level password protection features as other units in this genset control series.

The 8440-2057 control unit supports start/stop logic for both gas and diesel engines. An extensive set of programmable setpoints provide highly customizable protection. Twelve alarm outputs, ten of which are configurable, alert of conditions outside normal operations. This may include conditions related to generator load balance, an engine speed/frequency mismatch, or the mains phase shift/rotation field.
