The 8440-1994 is part of the easYgen-3000 Genset series. This series was made by Woodward and was made to be a multi-unit controlling and connecting device. The 8440-1994 achieves this by being compatible with several Genset units. In total connections can be made with up to thirty-two units. In addition to connection and control of these units, the 8440-1994  also has load sharing and load management talents. 

Such talents include automatic base loading/peak shaving, import and export control, and emergency power/backup power generation. The 8440-1994 also has other built-in features that allow and enhance its load management characteristics. Such features include FlexApp, FlexIn, and Flexible Outputs, as well as many others. Another built-in feature is its ability to perform synchronization that coincides with phase matching and slip frequency. Free configuration and discrete analog Input and Output is another characteristic of the 8440-1994. 

The 8440-1994 is also protected with a multi-password protection system, there is also a built-in heat/cooling feature that is controlled by a timer function.
