The Woodward company developed the easYgen-3000 series. Within that series is the 8440-1931 unit. As such the 8440-1931 is part of the Genset controller series. This means that this unit is able to be connected to thirty-two different machines as well as able to control them. Additionally, there are also other functions of the 8440-1931. It is capable of load managing features that include: load sharing, peak shaving, and import and export control. Several other built-in features are built into the 8440-1931 such as its multi-lingual capabilities, and being programmable in fourteen different languages. 

The 8440-1931 also has a built-in LC screen that allows easy access. There are also counters for engine starts as well as operating hours. In addition, this unit is equipped with a multi-level password protection system, to help ensure security. This machine was designed to be efficient with its import and export control interchangeable points. Being part of the EasyGen 3000 series the 8440-1931 is capable of connecting and controlling thirty-two Genset units simultaneously.
