Control model 8440-1844 is from the easYgen-3000 series which is made by Woodward Incorporated. This model is also typically seen as an easYgen-3100-1-P2, this model is housed in a sheet metal frame. 

The 8440-1844 model has two LEDs, one which is a run LED and the other is a comms LED, both of which indicate several states, typically the LEDs will be blinking green, not be illuminated at all, be blinking red/green, or will be illuminated red. If the comms LED on your controller is illuminated red then the number of parties from the load share bus does not match with what has been configured on your controller, it the run LED is illuminated red then the unit is ready to be operated but an alarm is in place, typically this alarm is a shutdown alarm classified by classes C, D, E or F. 

Note that when you are connecting your devices that there is a protective earth terminal (terminal sixty-one) on both the easYgen-3100 and easYgen-3200 models, as the 8440-1844 model is an easYgen-3100 model and therefore made from sheet metal you should not connect it to the terminal you can instead use the protective earth connecter which is located on the bottom center of the controller.
