The 8280-208 can be used in marine applications to regulate the load and speed of both medium- and high-speed diesel engines. This includes mechanically combined dual-engine operations with flexible couplings.

The 8280-208 has many features that make it a versatile control. This Woodward 723 control model has several fuel limiting features, such as torque fuel limiting, start fuel limiting, and manifold or external fuel limiting. It also has soft loading/unloading, as well as single-throttle operation for both engines when the system is in clutched operation.
