Part number 8230-3012 is a low voltage (18-40 Vdc, 24 or 32 Vdc nominal)723PLUS Generator Control. This Woodard control model can be used in applications where large-frequency excursions are likely to occur. Generator controls in the 723PLUS series can be used for island mode systems as well as base loading. These controls are designed for marine applications with auxiliary generators and diesel-electric propulsion.
723PLUS model 8230-3012 has three operation modes: droop control, isochronous load sharing, and MW control. Both isochronous load sharing and MW control have soft loading/unloading as well as an automatic generator breaker open command after the engine has unloaded.
Woodward control 8230-3012 has several digital and analog inputs/outputs. There are also three communication ports on this control. RS-232, RS-422 or RS-485 may be used with this control, allowing for Modbus communications through one of the unit’s serial ports. One of these ports may also be used for Hand Held Programmer, part number 9907-205. This Woodward programmer is used to adjust the 723PLUS 8230-3012 configurable setpoints and parameters.
Additional Woodward accessories for this generator control are Digital Synchronizer & Load Control (DSLC), SPM-A Synchronizer, and Real Power Sensor (MW Transducer). 723PLUS Generator Control Manual 37827 has more information regarding the use of these accessories with the 8230-3012 control.
