Product Description

Model 9905-027 from the Woodward 2301A Load Sharing and Speed Control (LSSC) series is another low-voltage model with an individual actuator system; it is a reverse-acting system with an actuator current of 0-20 mA. When connecting the control actuator wires, be sure they are connected to the positive terminal twenty and the negative terminal twenty-one; the shielded wires must be connected by the shield to terminal twenty-two. Under no circumstances should the actuator and shield be connected at the installation of the actuator wires or any other point.

When unpacking the control and before installation, be sure to check that the module has no damage; after installation of the 9905-027 model, check the speed sensor to make sure that there is no visible damage; check the link between the actuator and prime mover there should be no looseness between the two. Terminal sixteen on a low voltage model provides a positive dc source for terminals fourteen, seventeen, eighteen, nineteen, and thirty.

If while using the 9905-027 unit, the droop potentiometer needs to be adjusted, open the contact connected to terminal fourteen and slowly adjust the potentiometer to give the speed that is desired. If there is an error about the prime mover overspeeding after operating it at a rated speed, check the prime mover, and make sure that the prime mover’s fuel is operating properly.

The 905-027 module can be used in a variety of environments, one of them being a harsh environment, as it has a metal chassis rated for radio frequency interference, electromagnetic interference, dust, humidity, and vibration conditions. For more information on the environmental conditions and their specifications, refer to the 82390 Woodward Bulletin.

Frequently Asked Questions about 9905-027

What type of module is the 9905-027?

The 9905-027 module is a low-voltage, 20-40 Vdc, reverse-acting, single actuator 2301A Electronic Load Sharing and Speed Control. The actuator current on this module is 0-20 mA and does not have a deceleration ramp available.

Is the 9905-027 a CE-approved model?

The 9905-027 module is not one of the CE-approved low-voltage modules. For a CE-approved module, it would be best to use either the 9907-018, 9907-019, 9907-023, or 9907-024. If another reverse-acting module is desired, but CE approvals are wanted, use a 9907-019 or 9907-024 module.

What makes up a speed control system?

The elements of a speed control system are an actuator used for fuel or steam mechanism positioning of the prime mover, a frequency to voltage converter, a speed reference to compare the speed of the prime mover, a speed amplified/summer for proportional outputs with fuel or steam needed to maintain the necessary speed at any load, and a device to sense the prime mover's speed. For more information on the speed control system, the 9905-027, and how all of these elements will work, refer to chapter four of the 82389 manual.

Reviews For 9905-027

Internal Review
(5.0)

The 9905-027 module can be used for two functions. For speed functions, this unit will keep the prime mover at the desired speed. Load-sharing functions can be used for the parallel operation of two or more generators to sense the load carried by the generator, ensuring that all accepted loads are shared proportionally over the generators. - AX Control Tech
