About the UR-4CH
GE Multilin’s UR-4CH is a Digital I/O module that allows for the direct, high-speed transfer of data between different UR relays. The digital I/O messaging module enables real-time monitoring of system channels as well as diagnostic health reports that offer a comprehensive review of channel health. The module:
- further enables communication with sixteen or fewer UR units
- allows for redundant or single rings rather than basic point-to-point configurations
- reduces the need for auxiliary testing equipment with its built-in diagnostic capabilities
- offers connectivity to standard D20 channel banks
UR-4CH Multilin Digital I/O Module Messaging
Direct I/O messaging can be configured by the user by editing the system settings, whether using the keypad and LCD or the EnerVista UR software program. Changing the Direct I/O Data Rate can adjust the timing of I/O communications, though it should be noted that the rate for the G.703 module is fixed at 64 kbps. Users can also adjust settings related to:
- ring configuration
- alarm triggers
- channel crossover
Module replacement and installation is relatively easy when referencing GE’s Universal Relays user manuals, each of which has a section on proper procedure. A manual such as the 1601-0090-AB2 for the T60 Transformer Protection System includes more information and can be located on AX Control’s website.
