About the IS420ESWAH3A

The IS420ESWAH3A model is an Industrial Ethernet or IONet Switch manufactured by General Electric to be used with real-time industrial control solutions. When being used in these applications the ESWA switch requires features that are used to help with speed and functionality some of the features are as follows; 802.3, 802.3u, and 802.3x compatibility, auto sending for the HP-MDIX, LEDs that indicate power source, and a number of others.

On the front of the IS420ESWAH3A switch, there are eight ports. The eight ports are 10/100Base-TX copper RJ45 ports. Typically ESWA switches have fiber ports which is the main distinguishing feature of how the switches are different from each other, this switch is the only switch that does not have any fiber ports. Besides the switch not having any fiber ports all of the ESWA switches are similar.

The IS420ESWAH3A switch is based on the ability to buffer packets. The packets the ESWA will buffer are typically a continuous stream of multicast or broadcast packets. The switch can only buffer one incoming stream at a time and the remaining streams will have to be buffered for later transmission. One packet per port should be used with this switch.

This switch has performance criteria, these criteria are inrush current, switch latency, and switch architecture. All of these criteria have different functions, the switch architecture is used to support store and forward architecture to provide confidence for a high data amount.

Important information about the IS420ESWAH3A, including handling and wiring information, can be found using General Electric publications like manuals and user guides.  Please read these before attempting to install or maintain this equipment.
