About the IS220YSILS1B
The IS220YSILS1B is a Core Safety Protection I/O Pack from the Mark VIeS Series that was manufactured by GE Energy. The IS220YSILS1B works as an independent backup overspeed protection system with a backup check for generator synchronization to a utility bus. The module also provides an independent watchdog function for the primary control system.
IS220YSILS1B Specifications
The IS220YSILS1B is designed to be used with the several types of boards. These boards are:
- TCSA terminal board
- WCSA daughterboard
- SCSA I/O expansion boards
Three YSIL packs can be mounted onto the TCSA terminal board. The IS220YSILS1B monitors the operation of the primary control system and can monitor the primary speed as a sign of normal operation. The IS220YSILS1B can also monitor the status and operation of the trip board through a comprehensive set of feedback signals.
If the IS220YSILS1B detects a problem, the pack will activate the backup trip relays on the trip board and activate a trip on the primary control.
IS220YSILS1B Device Diagnostic Inclusions
The smaller yellow front side of the IS220YSILS1B has a series of LED indicators important for diagnostic processes. Some of these LEDs exist as dual-sided LED indicators with two labels per LED. Some of this module's various labeled LED indicators include the:

- WSOG and OSPD LED pair
- ESTP and RUN LED pair
