About the DS3800NEPB1D1D
The GE Power Excitation Board DS3800NEPB1D1D can only operate when installed in a power control module. The board must be connected to a motor excitation board. The DS3800NEPB1D1D provides the means for the operator to control the board. This is achieved from the Operation Selector control. The operator can also lower or raise the speed. The operator can select:
- Off Mode
- Crank Mode
- Idle Mode
- Manual Mode
- Auto Mode
- Romote Mode
To achieve full power from 0 power takes approximately 5 microseconds. The power supply for the board originates on the Motor Excitation Board. The power generated by the Motor Excitation Board is used for both the DS3800NEPB1D1D and the Motor Excitation Board.
DS3800NEPB1D1D Exposure Considerations
The Power Conversion Module is connected to the drive and so is installed in the same environment and has the same environmental requirements. Make sure the temperature of the area is within the specifications supplied for the device. If the temperature is too hot, an over temperature condition might exist that shuts down the drive and the module. If this fault condition occurs:
- Use fans to move air over the hot components to cool the device
- You might have to install ventilation hoods to draw the hot air out of the area
Another consideration is the quality of the air in the environment. Too much dust, dirt, paint spray, or airborne chemicals might damage the components. If that is the case, first try to limit the exposure of the device by installing the device away from the harmful environment. Frequently clean the device to limit the exposure.
