About the H0-ECOM100

The H0-ECOM100 is an Ethernet Communications Module that can be used for high speed peer-to-peer networking of PLCs. The H0-ECOM100 electrical power is supplied by the base. The electrical power consumption is 300mA. The H0-ECOM100 Ethernet Communications module connects to the network using standard RJ45 modular connectors. The link distance is 100 meters (328 feet). The H0-ECOM100 Ethernet Communications module is designed for use on a 10/100 BaseT (twisted pair, copper wire) Ethernet network.

Users can use a laptop, desktop, or other device with a 10/100BaseT network adapter card installed and NetEdit3 software to configure the H0-ECOM100 module over the network. Operators can also use the NetEdit3 software for troubleshooting some communication problems.

The NetEdit3 software utility can be used to set network identifiers (ModuleID or IP Address), perform diagnostic and troubleshooting tasks, and upgrade the firmware in the H0-ECOM100 module.

Operators can also assign a module ID using the DIP switches on the module. Use the DIP switches to install or change modules without using a laptop, desktop, or other device to set the Module ID.

The front of the H0-ECOM100 Ethernet Communications module provides status indicators.

  • LINK When green, the module is properly connected to the network.
  • ACT Red or flashing red indicates active network data.
  • ERR When red, or flashing red, a fatal error has occurred.
  • 100 When green, Ethernet data is detected at 100BaseT frequency.

The H0-ECOM100 Ethernet Communications module can be used to share data between two or more DirectLOGIC PLCs or between DirectLOGIC PLCs and a laptop, desktop, or other device. The H0-ECOM100 also allows client/server communications with other Ethernet devices using the MODBUS TCP protocol.

The H0-ECOM100 Ethernet Communications module provides a low-cost, high-speed Ethernet link for DL05 series, DL06 series, and DL405 series PLC devices.

The H0-ECOM100 is a faster, more updated version of the H0-ECOM that was released earlier by Host Automation. This module runs 10/100Base-T whereas the H0-ECOM only runs 10Base-T Ethernet. This updated module has all of the same capabilities, which includes interfacing with PLCs. With the H0-ECOM100, PLCs can communicate easily with other PLCs. - AX Control Lead Technician
