The 8440-1041 unit is Woodward's solution to increase the number of Inputs and Outputs easYgen series controllers which can be found separately on our site. The 8440-1041 allows its eight inputs and eight outputs to connect to the Woodward genset controllers easYgen series via CAN bus. Each of the inputs can be digitally configured and assigned a name with the software configuration on your Personal Computer. This includes useful tools like Alarm Classes, Normally Open and Normally Closed relays, and Delay Timers. The name and class are displayed on the connected genset Human-Machine Interface.

When all of the digital inputs have been read by the 8440-1041 unit and sent via the CAN bus to the chosen control unit, the alarms and classes will be assigned while in the control device. The alarms and their corresponding classes will be evaluated and then reacted to accordingly by the control device. 

One unique feature of the 8440-1041 unit is that it does not only have to be with Woodward controllers it can be used with other manufacturers' controllers as well. Although if being used with different manufacturers' controllers it is highly recommended to browse the 37135 product manual for information on the CAN bus interface assignments.
