In the past few decades, the American people have become steadily more reliant on government to remedy the ills of society. The expectation is that federal, state, and local governments will use funds seized via taxation and created via inflation to build a better nation for their citizens. Unfortunately, these government entities have shown themselves wholly unable or unwilling to fix the economic and societal issues that plague our nation. In many cases, government intervention has been positively counterproductive in bettering the lives of citizens.

Describe a way in which individuals or collective actors within the private sector can bring about societal improvement. In what ways have you participated in a cause that improves your community, city, state, or country? Why is private action so much more efficient and effective than government action?
