Configure Your L90 Line Differential Protection System

The Multilin L90 Series is designed to be a set of high end line phase-segregated current differential protection relays. The L90 Line Differential Protection System can be used with transmission lines and cables with different voltage levels. These L90 devices can support ground isolated and Peterson-coil systems, in addition to circuits with tapped transformer feeders. The relays also work with three-terminal lines with channel redundancy and Direct Transfer Tripping. 

The L90 systems have advanced protective and control features. Some of these are distance, load encroachment, and breaker failure protection. The breaker failure protection provides fully independent protection for breakers on the line that are connected to a substation with breaker-and-a-half or ring bus arrangement. 

The L90s can meet a variety of communications protocols. These include Ethernet Global Data and Modbus RTU, and Modbus TCP/IP. L90 relays run on EnerVista Software, which makes running these relays easier. The software allows users to monitor the status of the asset, maintain the relay, and send information collected by the L90 to DCS or SCADA monitoring systems. Multilin L90s are intended to protect lines and cables using current differential.
