Product Description

The IS200EPSMG2A is designed as an Exciter Power Supply Module for GE’s Mark VI series.  This series is a later Speedtronic system for steam or gas turbine management from General Electric.  The Mark VI is built with Ethernet capabilities and has a PC-based operator interface that runs on a Windows platform.  This HMI (human machine interface) allows all digital and analog data in the Mark VI to be accessed from one location. However, it is important to note the HMI is a non-essential component of the control system and thus may be replaced or reinitialized with no impact to the control system.

The Mark VI uses two versions of the EPSM card.  One is used in the thyristor system (EPSMG1) and the other (EPSMG2) is used within the regulator control. The IS200EPSMG2A is similar to the EPSMG1 board but includes the addition of a daughterboard (EPSD.)

The IS200EPSMG2A converts dc link voltages into different voltages requires for the EX2100 regulator control system.  Redundant systems will use two of these boards, with one mounted into the Exciter Regulator Backplane and the other mounted into the Exciter Regulator Redundant Backplane.  Simplex systems only need one board. The IS200EPSMG2A supplies voltages of +5 V DC, +/- 15 V DC, and +24 V DC.

The IS200EPSMG2A has a wide front faceplate.  This faceplate carries the GE logo and the board number.  It is also built with seven LED lights inserted into its surface. Each of these LEDs has been labeled.

The primary board of the IS200EPSMG2A has two inductors, including a large Bicron inductor.  It has five transistors equipped with heat sinks to allow for heat dissipation, four more heat sinks, nine fuses, a transformer, and multiple high-voltage electrolytic capacitors.   The board has a backplane connector. The EPSD daughterboard is attached to the main board by four standoff screw mounts. The daughterboard has a backplane connector.
