The 21-0394003 is a 32-Bit PrototypeBD for the PMAC2, which stands for Programmable Multi-Axis Controller2 series from Delta Tau System, Inc. The PMAC2 series is a line of high-performance servo-motion controllers, which have the capability of commanding as many as eight axes of motion simultaneously using a very high level of sophistication. With the power of a Digital Signal Processor (DSP), the PMAC2 series offers a price/performance ratio for multi-axis control that was previously unseen on the market. The PMAC2’s CPU is Motorola’s DSP56002, which has the capability of doing all of the calculations for the PMAC2 system for all eight axes at once.
There are six versions of hardware for the PMAC2 series: the PMAC2 PC, the PMAC2 PC Ultralite, the PMAC2 VME, the PMAC2 VME Ultralite, the PMAC2 Lite, and the PMAC2 Mini. All of these cards are different from each other, specifically in their form factor, availability in certain input/output ports, and the nature of their bus interfaces. All versions of the card, however, are basically the same in terms of the firmware on board, so any of the PMAC2 programs that are written for any version of the PMAC2 series will be executable on whichever version of the PMAC2 series without any problems.
