T1F-14THM is a thermocouple input module manufactured by Automation Direct, Facts Engineering, and Koyo. A member of the Terminator I/O series, this device has the capability of interfacing with many peripheral devices and programmable logic controllers. The module features fourteen differential channels, each ending in their own terminal. Incoming temperature readings are converted by the module into ℉ or ℃, requiring no extra user calculations. Conversions are precise, with a 16-bit resolution working to convert those signals. The typical linearity error of the module averages ±0.1℃.

Monitoring incoming voltages and readings will help to prolong the life of the module. Two voltage ratings are accepted by the device, 0 to 5 V ±5V and 0 to 156.25 mA ±156.25 mVDC. Each point on T1F-14THM is designed with a fault protected input, protecting the circuitry of the device from power surges. With this input protection, an absolute maximum rating of ±50 VDC is supported by the module. A number of temperature input types are accepted by the device, including J, E, K, R, S, T, B, N, and C. Temperature ranges vary depending on the selected input, with some capable of reading as high as 4208℉, or 2320℃, and others registering as low as -382℉, or -230℃. Cold junction compensation (CJC) acts automatically, but the user must first install it in the terminal base. A separately sold mounting base must be purchased before installing the module.

Unnecessary damage to T1F-14THM can be prevented by following proper storage and installation protocols. Although the module can read extreme temperatures, the device itself is only suited to sustain a small range of temperatures. When operating, temperatures can dip to 32℉, or 0℃, and can raise to 140℉, or 60℃. Storage temperatures offer more flexibility, with acceptable ranges falling between -4℉ and 158℉, or -20℃ and 70℃.
